Happy Fall!

Hi All!
My favorite time of year is here!  I love the colors, temperatures, smells, and flavors of Autumn. Turning leaves, pretty mums in bloom and bright pumpkins make me happy. The cooler temps are great for a fire in the fire pit.  But my favorite part of Fall is that it is caramel apple and pumpkin pie time!!
This little angel is a design I did for Denise over at Custom Quilling www.customquilling.com.  You can find this and tons more ideas for inspiration in the archived newsletters there.

I used the old Sizzix die for the body, shoes and hair and another Sizzix leaf die for the wings.   The onion holder was used to make the dress, mini leaves and pumpkin punches for the halo.  A small scalloped oval punch for her collar, under skirt and a quilled pumpkin and sunflower for her to hold. I used the Peachy Keen stamps for her face.  I put the little angel onto a large popsicle stick to use as a plant poke, but she could be put on a card or used in a scrapbook layout or anything you would want to embellish!

I think that if I made the project again I would double the die cut body so the light would not show through.

Happy Fall,
Sue

Big Lots!

Look what I found today at Big Lots!
I was there with my oldest daughter because they are having a sale on fingernail polish.  She REALLY likes fingernail polish!
Ok it was on the top shelf over my head (I'm short); my daughter spotted it for me!
A Quill Art kids jewelry kit!
I started quilling with a jewelry kit way back when!
There is a picture in the first post of this blog of the kit I had as a kid.

Here is a picture of what's inside of the box.

Instructions, strips, glue, jewels,  a quilling tool, jewelry findings and some glue.  All you need to add is imagination because I never follow directions!

Take some time to Quill!!

A couple of very meaningful cards...

I know October is set aside as Breast Cancer awareness month but I find myself making cards like this now. An Aunt who is near and dear to me is dealing with cancer at this time, so I am making cards as a way to show my support, care & love.

And another...

I can only imagine how scary all of this is for her. Love you Aunt Carol!

The second is a picture of the wedding card that will go along with the shadow box gift. Hope they like them; I had fun making them!!

Still not quite Spring...

Still a little chilly here, but we have been teased with 70's for a few days!  I am hopeful that we will at least have no more snow!!

I have another egg to share, this one is on a paper mâché egg.  It is for my aunt...she broke the last real one!!

Happy Spring!!

Well here in the Midwest they say it is Spring, but I'm not sure I believe them!
Still a little chilly here and a few snow flurries in the last couple days.

Anyway...I have been "Thinking Spring!"...and wanted to share a little chicken egg with you.  I used the Punch Bunch Rose/Begonia punch;  I like the way the flower came out!

Eggs are a great canvas for decorating and they are sort of a "recycle" project...gotta love that!

Wedding Invitations

Hello everyone,

I have had a request to share a couple of pictures of wedding invitation shadow boxes that I have made.  These are so fun to make!

This last picture is a graduation announcement.
You can do wedding invitations, graduation announcements, birth announcements, First Communion or Confirmation certificates...whatever you would put into a frame!!

Have a great day and find some time to craft!!

I hang my head...

I  am a bad blog mom!  Sorry there have been no posts since Christmas.

With my record I need to catch up, so how about something for Valentine's Day!

I found this glittered styrofoam heart at either Michael's or Hobby Lobby and it looked naked so I dressed it up!
A few punched roses and leaves, then some little fringed "button" flowers from 1/8" quilling strips, next a couple of fringed flowers from 1/4" strips.  To top it off some die cut hearts, a stamped "Be Mine" sentiment  and a bow.
